Considered on a case by case basis
Students will typically study a single honours bachelor’s degree (single subject focus). We do however offer some join honours programmes, which offer you the chance to combine two subjects.
We do also offer our Liberal Arts and Sciences degree course, which is designed for talented students who want to study a variety of subjects at degree level. You will typically centre your studies at University around one subject, your Major, which will serve as your specialism.
We don't really talk specifically about an acceptance rate at Birmingham, as it differs for different programmes, but all of our courses are competitive. If you meet the entry requirements for a programme, you are highly likely to be accepted for that course. We issue offers to around 80% of those who apply, but these are conditional offers based on meeting the grades outlined in our entry criteria. Only a proportion of students will meet these grades.
The type of offer you receive from Birmingham is personal to you depending on a range of factors, including your GCSE results, the subjects you’re studying and other qualifications, your predicted grades, your personal statement, your reference and your personal circumstances.
The best way to find out what Your Birmingham Offer might be is to complete our Offer Calculator. This tells you whether you are likely to receive an offer for a particular course, and the type of offer you can expect, based on the grades you have achieved and expect to achieve.
