The University of Pittsburgh (Pitt), a state-related public university was founded in 1787.

We’re a world-class research institution committed to undergraduate teaching, with a 14:1 student-to-faculty ratio. USA Today calls us a Top 10 place to study the health sciences, US News & World Report lists us as one of their Best Global Universities, and the Wall Street Journal ranks us the #1 public university in the northeast.

Our campus is vibrantly urban and surprisingly park-like, located in the heart of Pittsburgh just 3-miles outside downtown.
