Four US-based art schools: California College of the Arts (CCA), College for Creative Studies (CCS), Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), and School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), have joined forces as "The ArtPod" to offer workshops and events to interested students.
We're excited to announce a virtual summer workshop series for students interested in fine arts and design. You are not required to attend all 3 sessions, however, students who complete the series will receive application fee waivers for all of the ArtPod schools, if they choose to apply (Fall 2023 applicants only).
Attending Art School in the US and Careers in Art and Design
Studying in the United States presents many exciting and diverse opportunities for an undergraduate student. This workshop will cover an array of topics including the types of programs and degrees offered at art schools, accreditation, application requirements, and more.
Representatives will also provide examples of career pathways within the fields of art and design.
Creating a Dynamic Art Portfolio
This workshop is designed for students (all grades and levels of experience) who are looking for tips on creating an art portfolio. Representatives from the ArtPod will share examples of student artwork, discuss portfolio requirements, and answer questions about the application process.
Ideation: From Ideas to Solutions
Ideation is the process of generating ideas and solutions through sessions such as sketching, researching, prototyping, brainstorming, and a wealth of other ideation techniques. This session will help you transition from identifying problems to creating solutions to strengthen your portfolio.
