In this lecture we will learn about the current Low-Carbon Energy Transition. To explore this in more detail, we will learn what we understand under energy transition and look at historic examples and their different scales. To understand our current Low-Carbon Energy Transition, we will look at the Climate Change Challenge, the economical, societal, and environmental challenges of the Energy Transition and the role of geoscientists in the Energy Transition.
