Over the past decade, there has been tremendous progress in the development and roll-out of novel approaches for HIV prevention and treatment. As a result, there has been a dramatic drop in new HIV infections worldwide, improved quality of life for people living with HIV and an increase in life expectancy in countries with high HIV burden. However, HIV remains a significant scientific challenge with no effective vaccine or cure in sight.
In our upcoming lecture, Thumbi Ndung'u, Professor of Infectious Diseases at UCL, will discuss the origin and future of HIV/AIDS including remaining significant scientific and public health challenges.
This lecture will be followed by a Q&A with Professor Ndung’u.
