Summer Programs for High School Students at Columbia University


Columbia’s rigorous Summer Immersion program gives students in grades 9 - 12 (Freshman, Sophomore (Pre-IB), Junior (IB1) and Senior (IB2) / UK years 10-13 ) a taste of academic life at an Ivy League institution, a chance to hone their talent, and the opportunity to meet other gifted, young minds from across the globe. Students choose from over 70 curricular options in a wide variety of fields, including business, the sciences, writing, psychology, art, and more.


The Summer Immersion options for 2022 include online, commuter, and residential

There are fees to attend all of these courses.


Online Summer Immersion Programs

Experience Columbia during a 1-week or 2-week course


Dive into an Ivy League education this summer with Columbia’s world-class instructors, and a dynamic online learning platform.

  • Interact with Columbia instructors and experts in their fields.

  • Engage with an international community of students.

  • Prepare for college and the admissions process through specially designed programs.

  • Participate in extracurricular activities led by current students.

  • Earn a Columbia University Certification of Participation and evaluation letter.


New York City Summer Immersion Programs

Experience Columbia during a 3-week residential course (1-week and 3-week options available to commuter students)


Enrol in an intensive pre-college course, designed to challenge and engage high-achieving students in a supportive environment.

  • Choose from over 70 courses in a dozen subject areas.

  • Study alongside a cohort of like-minded students from all over the world.

  • Experience college life while discovering one of the world's great cities.

  • Attend college success events to prepare for the academic rigours of university life.

  • Earn a Columbia University Certification of Participation and an instructor evaluation.
