About the institution

Syracuse University is an independent research university that advances knowledge across disciplines to drive breakthrough discoveries and breakout leadership.

Our 13 schools and colleges and over 200 academic programs close the gap between education and action, so graduates are equipped to be resourceful, responsive and real-world ready. In and beyond the classroom, we connect people, perspectives and practices to solve interconnected issues with innovative approaches. Together, we’re a powerful community of game changers that moves ideas, individuals and impact forward.

Nearly 15,000 undergraduate students enjoy the resources of a beautiful 270-acre main campus in the heart of New York State; extended campus venues in Los Angeles, Washington, D.C., and Manhattan; and six study abroad centers around the world. Syracuse University has more than a quarter of a million alumni in 150 countries, many of whom are eager to help students with internships and learning opportunities.
Syracuse University is classified in the top tier for research activity among all doctoral universities in the nation by the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education. This means students have ample opportunities as an undergraduate to research alongside faculty.
